Moving and Storage Industry Expresses Strong Support for Duffy to Lead DOT

Washington –ÌýÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è Moving & Storage Conference Executive Director Dan Hilton to the Senate Commerce Committee endorsing former Representative Sean Duffy to serve as Department of Transportation Secretary.Ìý

“On behalf of the ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è’ Moving and Storage Conference (ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è-MSC) and the small-and-medium-sized companies that make up the moving and storage industry in every community across the nation, I write to offer my full support for the nomination of Sean Duffy to be Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT),â€� Hilton wrote.

Hilton emphasized the vital role of a strong DOT, highlighting the need for robust oversight to protect consumers from fraudulent moving operators and ensuring a reliable infrastructure for America’s movers.

“As Congress and the Department begin work on surface transportation reauthorization, strong leadership is critical,� Hilton added. He also underscored the importance of advancing legislation like the Household Goods Shipping Consumer Protection Act to empower regulators and protect consumers from rogue operators.

ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è President and CEO Chris Spear previously sent a separate letter backing Rep. Duffy's nomination in advance of his confirmation hearing scheduled for Wednesday, January 15th. ÌýÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è-MSC joins the broader ÀÏ¾ÅÆ·²è inÌýcalling for the Commerce members to report his nomination out of the committee favorably so that the full Senate can confirm him soon after President-elect Trump is sworn into office.
